To improve the skill of adolescent boys and girls ACDS was conducted vocational training on tailoring, embroidery, sari panting and diesel engine mechanism. Every training consist of 20-25 participants and duration of the training was six months. They were provided trainings as per the syllabus. Addition to tailoring they were also provided training on sari paintings and embroidery. Power machine operations were also provided to enhance their capacity to work industries. These trainings provided opportunity for them to learn new skill and able to get new employment opportunities for self and industries located around Chennai. Those who completed in tailoring were awarded certificates to get employment or we motivate them to initiate self-employment. ACDS is also making efforts with local garment factories to find employment for those who completed the course.
ACDS is also provided opportunity for fishing community boys on diesel engine repair and maintenance. The duration of the training for diesel engine repair and maintenance was six months. The training was provided as per the syllabus as well as onsite issues and problems. At the time of fishing they face problems in the engine in the sea. This training was very much useful for them when they go for fishing in the sea. After completion they were provided completion certificate. Apart from sea fishing they do also involved in repair and maintenance of diesel engine on coastal side also. In this regards they get additional income in the off-season as well as non-fishing days.
